E-Voting System (April 15)

Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University hosted the launch of software for E-Voting. Eng. Fereydoun Najafi, Information Technology Officer at the Human Rights Commission delivered a talk at the launch of his innovation, E-Voting System software. He spoke about defaults and fraud associated to, especially technical issues, in the biometric system used in previous parliamentary elections in Afghanistan. He introduced his newly developed software and explained its advantages as; less time to vote, allows access only to authorized individuals, easy access to online electoral system, and use of fingerprints thus reduce possibility of corruption. He also explained the simple procedure in accessing the new system. Steps include: refer to the system; enter the polling machine; access to the list of candidates; select the desired candidate; and fingerprint matching. Dr. Davood Ali Najafi, former Head of the Independent Election Commission Secretariat joined the program as guest speaker. During his speech, Dr. Davood talked about the pros and cons of newly introduced system and its feasibility in the country. Students from Kabul University joined the program. Eng. Najafi received questions from students, and program ended interactively with questions and answers.
