On December 5, Afghanistan Center at Kabul University hosted a research seminar with  Dr. Arian Sharifi on “Extremists Instrumental Use of Violence in Afghanistan.” Dr. Sharifi presented his Ph.D. dissertation that explores the peaceful and violent approaches used by the extremist groups to achieve their political interests. The theoretical framework of Dr. Sharifi’s research is based on the social movement’s theory in which he argues that the strategic decisions of extremist groups are more rational than ideological.
